Original artwork, existing only as a physical Acrylic painting on canvas.
Using my arsenal of palette knives and brushstrokes I built layers of movement and subtle glazes to the shifting water.
I mixed dark umber with blue to get that deep underwater look in the picture.
This Painting is of my favourite Aquatic Mammal, the otter.
I love the way Otters manoeuvre themselves into all kinds of shapes through the water so I wanted to depict this particular Otter in a state of Play.
I imagined he’d found the perfect pebble, then joyfully spins through the rapids, off in a wild river somewhere.
